Cell Site Analysis Mobile Tracking
Thursday, December 2nd, 2010With the number of people who own a mobile phone ever increasing, the ability to use their data in criminal investigations is also on the rise. One aspect of this is cell site analysis which is the technical process of locating the exact geographic location of a phone when a call or text was made or received. Therefore this can pinpoint whether a suspected criminal was in a particular area at the time when a crime was committed. Our expert team at CCL Forensics have all the experience and relevant technical equipment to help with any evidence extraction.
Using information from phone masts of the particular phone service provider, this process can show whether a phone was or wasn’t in a neighbourhood at a certain time. The information from this can then be used in court proceedings by either the prosecution to help pinpoint a criminal to a location or by the defence in providing a potential alibi for the suspect.
We have a specific in-house team at the CCL Forensics secure, state of the art labs who are trained to fully deal with all cell site analysis cases. They will consult their findings throughout the process before (where necessary) physically surveying and measuring where mobile phone signals are received from in the area. The specialists will then collate detailed and concise maps to show the cell analysis data with the final task of our skilled department acting as an expert witness and presenting our findings for your case in court.
Cell site analysis is a highly intricate and in depth method of tracking the location and path of mobile phone usage. The results received from us at CCL Forensics can then be used in relation to other evidence such as CCTV footage to confirm whether or not the owner of the phone was at the scene of a crime.
